Angelic Troublemakers, Tactical Deviants
Ricardo Jiménez (b.1956) is a Puerto Rican AIDS activist based in Chicago, advocating for funding for HIV intervention/prevention in the Latino community and LGBTQ+ rights. He is a counselor at Vida/SIDA, a Puerto Rican Cultural Center project. In the late 1970s, he was a member of the Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional (FALN), advocating for Puerto Rican independence. In 1980, Jiménez and 11 others were arrested in connection with over 100 bombings aimed at achieving Puerto Rican independence. He was incarcerated in a U.S. federal prison, where reports of human rights violations against FALN prisoners surfaced. Jiménez was released in 1999 after President Bill Clinton granted him clemency.
