Lozen (1840-1889), a Chihenne Chiricahua Apache, was a fierce two-spirited warrior, medicine woman, and oracle. Her brother, Chief Victorio, regarded her as his "right hand" and a protector of their people. Revered for her ability to sense adversaries, she would sing and turn in a circle during ceremony until her palms tingled, signaling an enemy's location. Known for bravery and military prowess, Lozen safeguarded her people during turbulent times in Apache history. She embodied the roles of warrior, shaman, and humanitarian.

"Two-spirit" refers to Indigenous individuals embodying both sacred feminine and sacred masculine energies, with definitions varying among Indigenous nations and individuals.
